Why I’m Running for Congress

Over the past week, the one question that many people have been asking me is, “Why did you wait until the last day (prior to the one week extension) to file for Congress?” The simple answer is, “Because I didn’t commit to run until January 31st.”

The political establishment will never understand my decision because my decision was not based on politics. It was not based on money. It was not based on political capital. It was not based on political timing. It was simply based on the fact that I passionately believe that I am the best person for this job.

Tom Wurtz for U.S. Congress

That’s a headline I never thought I would see. I’m tired of talking. I’ve decided to report for duty. Yesterday, I traveled to Frankfort and declared my candidacy for federal office. Here is a copy of my press release.

For Immediate Release – January 31, 2012

(Fort Mitchell, Kentucky) Tom Wurtz, 56, a lifetime Republican and resident of Northern Kentucky has announced his candidacy for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District for the U. S. House of Representatives. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Geoff Davis in 2012. Wurtz has never run for political office before.

Wurtz is currently the President of Tom Wurtz Consulting which provides leadership and profit consulting services. He also writes a weekly leadership column (Eagle e-Lesson) for his business subscribers. He is a speaker, author, columnist, constitutional-conservative and active in politics. Continue reading
