Kentucky’s state motto, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall,” is no longer valid. Last week’s election results clearly establish that politically, Northern Kentucky and the rest of Kentucky have nothing in common. I believe it’s time for Kentucky to divide into two separate states.
Our fifty-six Founding Fathers expressed the principle of separation in the Declaration of Independence, “When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God entitled them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
Let me present my case. Northern Kentucky voters value limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, protection of private property, limited regulations and personal responsibility. The rest of Kentucky values big government, fiscal irresponsibility, government control of businesses, centralized-planning of private property, massive regulations, no individual accountability and a marxist, socialist and communist agenda.
