On December 20th, the Boone County Fiscal Court voted to purchase 81 acres of property along Gun Powder Creek. Why does government keep buying up private property? The court’s reasoning is an insult to every American POW.
American prisoners of war were tortured, deprived of food, lived in animal conditions, but they refused to turn against the United States. The enemy would tempt them with warm food, comfortable living conditions and a reprieve from torture if they would denounce the United States as an evil empire or provide valuable information.
The enemy tried to convince each American prisoner that if they refused their “generous” offer of better conditions, another prisoner would gladly accept their offer. Why shouldn’t they take the goodies for themselves? Even under the worst of conditions, America’s POWs would time and time again reject these offerings and return to their life of hell.
